The original Lectric XPress was already one of the more interesting commuter eBikes in the budget category. But now Lectric claims the new XPress 2 motor is 99% quieter, adds a torque/cadence sensor toggle, upgrades the suspension and braking package, and somehow keeps pricing in commuter-friendly territory.
Naturally, we had to test it.
At RiderGuide, we don’t just ride a bike around the block for ten minutes and read the spec sheet back to you. We timed assembly, verified weight claims, measured motor noise, tested hill climbing, acceleration, braking, range, and even looked at weird little things most people never test.
The big question:
Does the XPress 2 feel like a real commuter eBike, or just another budget bike with a good looking spec sheet?

Assembly and First Impressions
Many commuter bikes arrive nearly assembled, but the XPress 2 requires a little more work due to its full-size frame.
We timed our build from opening the box to first ride:
27 minutes, 22 seconds
That’s genuinely impressive.
Lectric included some smart little design choices that made setup easier, including snap-on pedals and simple spoke adjustments. Instructions were online and easy to follow.
Once assembled, our first thought was:
“This feels more like a premium commuter than the price suggests.”
Weight Test: The Real Numbers
Manufacturers love optimistic weight numbers.
Lectric lists the XPress 2 at 64 lbs, but our fully configured test bike came in closer to:
74 lbs
That difference matters.
Accessories, racks, pedals, battery options, and fenders can all add weight.
While riding, the weight feels completely manageable. Carrying it upstairs every day is a different story.
If you live in:
- Ground floor apartments
- Garages
- Basements
- Sheds
No problem.
If you’re carrying this up stairs daily, be realistic.
Acceleration Testing
Our test rider weighed approximately:
- Rider + gear: 190 lbs
- Bike: 74 lbs
- Total system weight: ~270 lbs
Results:
Throttle only
- 0–15 mph: 5.1 sec
- 0–20 mph: 9.2 sec
With moderate pedaling
- 0–28 mph: 18 sec
This isn’t eMoto acceleration and that’s completely fine.
The XPress 2 isn’t trying to rip your arms off.
Instead it delivers smooth, natural commuter power.
The torque sensor especially makes a huge difference. Push harder and the bike responds immediately. Back off and it backs off.
It feels connected rather than delayed.
Top Speed Test
Lectric advertises Class 3 capability up to 28 mph.
We tested multiple runs in opposite directions to eliminate wind and terrain bias.
Results:
28 mph achieved consistently
What matters more is how it feels there.
The XPress 2 doesn’t feel twitchy or unstable at higher speeds.
Its larger wheels and traditional commuter geometry give it a much more planted ride than smaller folding bikes or oversized fat tire models.
The personality here is simple:
Smooth. Stable. Useful.
Hill Climb Test
Our hill:
- Length: 200 feet
- Grade: 10% average
Results:
- Fastest run: 16.9 sec
- Average: 17.2 sec
- Average climbing speed: 7.9 mph
For a commuter bike, that’s solid.
The 85Nm torque output gives enough power for:
- Daily commuting
- Moderate hills
- Grocery runs
- Backpack loads
- Normal city riding
If your area is mostly flat, lower power options can work.
If you deal with hills regularly, we’d strongly lean toward the 750W version.
Braking Test
Commuter bikes can hit serious speeds, which makes braking extremely important.
The XPress 2 uses hydraulic brakes and we saw:
- 16.2 ft
- 18.1 ft
- 16.9 ft
Average: 17.1 feet
More importantly, they felt predictable.
Strong brakes that are overly grabby can actually hurt confidence.

Real World Range Test
Lectric claims:
Up to 60 miles
As always, claimed range assumes ideal conditions:
- Lighter riders
- Lower assist
- Flat roads
- Mild weather
Real world testing matters more.
Our test:
- Sports mode
- Stop-and-go riding
- Hills
- Mixed throttle use
- Moderate pedaling
Result:
38.3 miles
Could you reach 60 miles?
Probably.
But you’d need:
- Eco mode
- Lighter riding
- Lower speeds
- More rider input
For normal commuting, errands, and recreational riding, range should be more than enough.
Ride Quality
This is where the XPress 2 starts separating itself from many budget competitors.
Highlights:
- Torque sensor feels surprisingly natural
- Full-size geometry feels stable
- Hydraulic brakes improve confidence
- SR Suntour XCM32 fork works better than expected
- 27.5″ wheels roll efficiently
Instead of feeling like a toy, it feels like an actual commuter bike.
The “99% Quieter” Motor Test
Lectric says the new motor is 99% quieter.
So naturally we tested it.
Motor noise averaged:
65 dB
Motor sound isn’t something most buyers think about, but it absolutely affects ride quality.
A noisy motor often makes bikes feel cheaper.
The quieter setup here gives the XPress 2 a much more refined feeling.
Headlight Test
Measured output:
- 1,401 lux at 25 ft
Plenty of usable light for night riding and commuting.

The XPress 2 feels like one of those bikes that’s greater than the sum of its parts.
It isn’t trying to be a fat tire adventure bike.
It isn’t trying to be an ultra-portable folding bike.
And it isn’t pretending to be an eMoto.
Instead, it focuses on delivering a comfortable, capable commuter experience with features that actually improve day-to-day riding.
The torque sensor alone dramatically improves ride feel, while the quieter motor, hydraulic brakes, and upgraded suspension make this feel more premium than the price would suggest.
