Navee NT5 Ultra X Review

The Navee NT5 Ultra X is one of the most stable high speed, premium eScooters we’ve tested in 2026.

Navee NT5 Ultra X front three-quarter view

The Navee NT5 Ultra X sits at the top of the NT5 series, and on paper it reads like a solid premium commuter: a 40 mph top speed, a claimed max range of 56 miles, and dual motors. But after weeks of hands-on testing, we can tell you this scooter isn’t really about raw specs. It’s about ride quality and one of the most complete tech suites we’ve ever seen packed into an electric scooter.

Safe Riding Reminder: The NT5 Ultra X is capable of 40 mph. Always wear a helmet (a full-face helmet is strongly recommended at these speeds), use protective gear, obey local traffic laws, and ride within your skill level.

The headline features

Smart features you won’t find anywhere else

Navee NT5 Ultra X handlebar controls and turn signals

Let’s start with what makes the NT5 Ultra X genuinely unique, because a few of these features are only available on this scooter.

Proximity unlock

Walk up to the scooter and ride away. That’s it. Because the NT5 recognizes your phone over Bluetooth, it unlocks automatically as you approach, just tap the brake lever and go. No fumbling for NFC tags, no keys, no trying to remember a passcode. It is incredibly convenient, and once you get used to it, going back to any other unlocking system feels like a chore.

Smart charging limits and scheduled charging

This is a brilliant, EV-grade feature. You can set a charge limit, dropping from 100% down to 80%, for example, so you’re not topping off the battery every single time. That alone will meaningfully prolong the lifespan of the NT5’s battery pack.

On top of that, you can schedule when the scooter charges. Plug it in when you get home, but tell it to wait until the middle of the night when electricity rates are cheapest. It’s smart for your wallet and great for the environment.

Over-the-air updates

Setup took us about five minutes, one of the easiest we’ve ever done. As soon as we connected the app, we were greeted with an OTA update. Just like a Tesla, whenever Navee pushes an update, it goes straight through the app to your scooter, keeping it running better and longer over time.

Apple Find My, built in

The NT5 Ultra X ships with a dedicated Apple Find My module already installed. Because it rides on Apple’s ecosystem, there’s no annual GPS subscription fee, a sneaky cost that plagues a lot of other premium scooters.

Annual GPS subscription fee
$0
Apple Find My comes built in, so there’s no subscription to track the scooter down if it gets stolen.

Auto-sensing headlight

The headlight monitors ambient light and turns itself on automatically when you enter a tunnel or ride at night. You can still control it manually, but it’s one less thing to think about. We measured 2,200 lux from 6 feet away, plenty bright.

Traction control (TCS)

One of our favorite features. It started raining on the way to one of our test sessions, so we flipped on TCS through the app. With it enabled, launches feel slightly softer, but the system keeps the wheels from spinning out on slick surfaces. You can actually hear it working on loose terrain. For a 40 mph scooter, this is a real safety feature, not a gimmick.

Real-world numbers

Performance testing

Navee NT5 Ultra X during acceleration testing

We ran the NT5 Ultra X through our full battery of acceleration and speed tests. In our best runs:

Test Result
0 to 10 mph 1.79 s
0 to 20 mph 4.47 s
0 to 30 mph 9.52 s
0 to 35 mph 13.71 s
1/8 mile 17.0 s
Top speed (GPS verified) 39 mph

We clocked 39 mph on GPS but never quite touched the claimed 40. Worth noting: the dashboard reads roughly 2 mph optimistic compared to GPS.

The dual motors are rated at 1,200W peak (800W nominal) each, and thermals stayed well under control. After three back-to-back hill climbs, the rear motor sat at just 113°F, the front motors at 98°F, and the hottest point on the deck (near the controller) at about 106°F. That’s a healthy thermal picture for a scooter in this class.

The headline of this review

Handling: the trailing arm is magic

Navee NT5 Ultra X trailing arm front end

Here’s the headline of this entire review. The NT5 Ultra X uses a trailing arm front-end design, the front axle sits behind the steering axis rather than in line with it, and the resulting stability is unlike anything else we’ve ridden this year.

Perceived speed gap
10MPH
The trailing arm front end is so planted that testers kept guessing they were going about 10 mph slower than they actually were.

It’s so stable that it genuinely messes with your perception of speed. We were consistently about 10 mph off when guessing our speed by feel. Cruising at 35 to 40 mph feels like 20. Even at top speed, the scooter feels planted enough to one-hand (please don’t).

The trade-off is in cornering: carving feels a bit muted rather than aggressive. This is a scooter tuned for confident, smooth high-speed cruising, not razor-sharp canyon carving, and honestly, for its intended rider, that’s the right call.

Suspension and off-road ability

The NT5 runs dual front suspension forks with a single non-adjustable spring in the rear. Preload is adjustable; damping and rebound are not. With only about 40 mm of travel, this is a light off-road machine at best. On our off-road course it stayed quite comfortable, average bumpiness scored just a 1, with max vibration around 6.7, but a 200 lb rider hitting anything aggressive will bottom out the springs. Stick to hardpack trails and city imperfections and you’ll be happy.

Brakes

Navee NT5 Ultra X mechanical brake and rotor

The NT5 Ultra X uses mechanical brakes with 140 mm rotors, adequate for its speed and acceleration, and these are probably the best-tuned mechanical brakes we’ve ever tested. They take very little effort to actuate, bite snappily, and deliver full stopping force with a light two-finger pull. Very well balanced front to rear.

One nice touch on the controls: the boost button is semi-permanent. Press it once and it stays engaged until you power the scooter off, no need to hold it or re-press constantly.

The balance sheet

Pros and cons

Pros
  • The trailing arm stability. Magically planted, even at 40 mph. This alone separates the NT5 Ultra X from the pack.
  • Charge limit control. Cap the battery at 80% when you don’t need full range and dramatically extend battery lifespan.
  • The tech suite. Proximity unlock, OTA updates, subscription-free Apple Find My, auto headlight, TCS, and full app control, every feature on this scooter can be managed from your phone.
  • Best-tuned mechanical brakes we’ve tested. Snappy, light, and beautifully balanced.
  • Five-minute setup and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Cons
  • Slow charging. Roughly 8 hours for a ~$2,000 premium scooter, and with only one charge port you can’t double up chargers (though Navee sells a fast charger).
  • No rear turn signals. The integrated handlebar signals are bright, but riders behind you may miss them unless you drop your arm, and they don’t auto-cancel, so remember to switch them off.
  • Dim display. Even at maximum brightness, the screen is hard to read in daylight.

Decision guide

Who should buy the Navee NT5 Ultra X?

Buy it if you want
  • The most stable high-speed scooter we’ve tested this year
  • A real smart-feature suite: proximity unlock, traction control, OTA updates, subscription-free Find My, app-controlled charge limits
  • Some of the best-tuned mechanical brakes we’ve ridden
  • A fast commuter that can also handle light, hardpack off-roading
Skip it if you want
  • Sharp, aggressive cornering over a stability-tuned ride
  • Real off-road suspension travel (this has about 40mm)
  • Fast charging, or the option to run two chargers at once
  • A display that stays readable in bright daylight

Final word

RiderGuide verdict

The Navee NT5 Ultra X is one of our favorite scooters of the year, and not because of raw power.

If pure acceleration is what you’re chasing, look elsewhere. But if you want the full package, remarkable high-speed stability, genuinely useful smart features, excellent brakes, IPX6 water resistance, and a stunning design, the NT5 Ultra X delivers a riding experience that punches well above its spec sheet.

It can handle light off-roading, but keep expectations in check with only 40 mm of suspension travel. As a fast, tech-forward daily ride, though, it’s hard to beat, especially at a discount.

Bottom line: one of the most stable high-speed scooters we’ve tested, with the deepest smart-feature suite and best-tuned mechanical brakes we’ve ridden.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How fast is the Navee NT5 Ultra X?
Navee claims 40 mph. We clocked 39 mph on GPS in testing, and the onboard dashboard read about 2 mph faster than the GPS-verified number.
How far can the Navee NT5 Ultra X go on a charge?
Navee claims up to 56 miles at a steady 9 mph, from a 46.8V, 19.2Ah (898Wh) battery in a 13S4P layout.
Does the Navee NT5 Ultra X need a GPS subscription?
No. It ships with an Apple Find My module built in, so you get location tracking through Apple’s ecosystem with no annual fee, unlike a lot of premium scooters that charge for GPS.
How long does the Navee NT5 Ultra X take to charge?
About 8 hours through its single charge port at 2.45A. Navee sells an optional fast charger separately if you want to cut that down.
Can the Navee NT5 Ultra X handle off-road riding?
It handles light off-roading on hardpack trails and rough city streets fine. With about 40mm of front travel and a non-adjustable rear spring, riders over roughly 200 lb will bottom it out on anything aggressive.
Is the Navee NT5 Ultra X worth it?
