REVV1 vs Super73-Z: Who Wins Best in Trail

The Ride1Up REVV1 FS had already made an impression when we got the REVV1 DRT edition, a burlier build  of the company’s moped-style ebike for serious off-road riding.

The REVV1 FS hit speeds of 35+ mph when unlocked in “off road mode.” Our reviewer John “Hammy Moto” pronounced it a worthy competitor to Super 73’s moped-style ebikes on the road, but it needs a couple upgrades for enhanced off-road capability.

The new Ride1Up REVV1 DRT delivers, with all the off-road appointments, including a rear spring air suspension with longer travel, wider, knobbier, all-terrain tires, an even more powerful, 1000W motor, and top speed of up to 45 mph.

The REVV1 DRT also has updated geometry, fairings around the headlight and frame, a MOLLE panel in the center for easy gear storage, and scrambler-style high-mounted fenders.

All that’s to say, the REVV1 DRT edition is a worthy competitor for Super73’s Adventure series off-road builds, specifically the best-selling Super73-Z.

Both of these bikes are around $2,500. How do they stack up against each other? You can find out in our full video comparison/battle above. How does the DRT compare to the REVV1 FS? See Hammy’s video below for more details on the differences between these two awesome ebikes.

Suspension

The REVV1 DRT, frankly, just looks a lot cooler than the Super73-Z – we noticed right away that it’s got much more appealing motorcycle-like styling. The Ride1Up REVV1 DRT is also a bit taller than the Super73, so shorter riders, take note.

Ride1Up doesn’t trade style for substance, however: all DRT’s little touches serve a purpose, and some of its added height and intimidation factor come from the moto-style rear suspension, while the Super73-Z sports a more ebike-like hardtail frame.

Ride1Up truly addressed the off-road concerns about the FS edition, with 150mm of cushy travel up front and coiled air suspension in the rear on the DRT for smoother handling up and downhill.

“So I saw a Porsche 911 Turbo S the other day when I was driving with my wife, and I was like, ‘that car to could accelerate to 100 mph and then come to a dead stop and then accelerate back to 60 and the time it takes our car to get to 60.’ It kind of feels like one of those situations, right? Just no competition at all. This is so much faster.”

Power, Speed & Battery

post-image-1
Full suspension makes a huge difference on the trail, as does the difference in motor power and battery size between these two bikes. The Super73’s 600W of nominal power is no match for the REVV1’s 1000 Watts.

Mitchell compares the difference in acceleration to that between a Porsche 911 Turbo S and your average commuter car, which is really no comparison at all.

When it comes to battery size, the REVV1 DRT also outclasses the Super73. Its 1040Wh battery has over twice the capacity of the Super73-Z Adventure and will likely give you over twice the range.

Hill Climb

It’s not a Surron or e-dirt bike – it’s still a moped ebike with pedals – but the REVV1 DRT climbed all of the steep inclines on our ride with little need for pedal assistance and performed much more confidently on inclines than the Super73 off-road because of its rear suspension and added power.

REVV1 vs Super73-Z: Conclusion

These are both great ebikes, but it’s clear by the end of our comparison that the Super73-Z Adventure is coasting on name recognition at $2,500 while the Ride1Up REVV1 DRT earns its pricetag with serious value for the money. We should point out the DRT’s price is introductory and likely to go up, so this is a great time to grab one.

We’ll also note that while the DRT beat the Super73 on the trail, in no way is it a “better” bike than the REVV1 FS. This isn’t meant as an upgrade over the other REVV1 editions but as a different kind of ebike for mostly off road riding. If you do most of your riding on the road, we’d still recommend the FS version of the REVV1. Check out Hammy’s review of that bike here and pick one up at the link below.
