CYCROWN Dremax Review: Is This $1,299 Commuter E-Bike Worth It?
Hey Ryder Riders, it’s your boy back again—and today we’re diving into the CYCROWN Dremax electric bike. After testing more than 200+ PEVs (personal electric vehicles) over the years, I’ve seen it all—from underpowered city commuters to high-speed off-road beasts. So, where does the Dremax land?
At $1,299, this commuter-focused e-bike promises strong specs, real-world versatility, and enough comfort to make your daily rides smoother. But is it the right choice for you? Let’s find out.

Unboxing & First Impressions
Out of the box, assembly is simple—install pedals, a front fender, and the bell, and you’re ready to roll. The included 54.6V 3A charger tops you off in about 6 hours.
The bike feels solid from the start, with a clean LCD screen and handlebar controls that are intuitive. I liked the left-hand thumb throttle, which makes cruise control easier to manage.
But here’s the thing—if you’re over 6’1” (I’m 6’3”), the handlebar stem feels a little short. You’ll either need to compromise on seat height or look at an extender. Riders under 6 feet? Perfect fit.
On-Road Performance
Let’s talk speed and acceleration:
-
Throttle only: 20 mph consistently
-
Pedal assist: Up to 28 mph
-
0–15 mph throttle only: 6.12 seconds
-
0–15 mph with pedaling: 3.07 seconds
That torque sensor + cadence combo makes pedaling smooth, and the Shimano 8-speed shifts cleanly. For city commuting and bike lanes, 20–28 mph feels right in the sweet spot.
Where it struggles: throttle-only hill climbs. My test climb came in at 15.52 seconds throttle-only, improved to 12.37 seconds with pedaling. It’s not a monster hill-crusher, but it gets the job done for urban inclines.
Off-Road & Mixed Terrain
Now, this isn’t marketed as a hardcore off-roader—but I tested it anyway:
-
Grass: Handled well, no slipping.
-
Gravel trails: Surprisingly smooth thanks to the front suspension.
-
Light off-road: Doable, but don’t expect rear suspension-level comfort.
Verdict: Stick to bike lanes and paved trails, but know it can handle the occasional rough patch.
Range Test Results
Using throttle only, I clocked in 18.97 miles before draining the battery. With pedal assist, you’re easily looking at 35+ miles, depending on riding style and terrain.
For commuters, that’s more than enough for daily trips—especially with the comfort of sitting versus standing on an e-scooter.
Who Is the CYCROWN Dremax For?
At $1,299, the Dremax hits a sweet spot for riders who want:
✅ A reliable commuter e-bike with solid speed and range
✅ Hydraulic brakes and suspension for safety and comfort
✅ A plug-and-play setup (little to no extra upgrades needed)
✅ Enough power for city riding + light trail detours
But it’s not for you if:
❌ You want an ultra-light off-road machine
❌ You’re chasing 40+ mph top speeds
❌ You’re over 6’2” and want perfect ergonomic fit out of the box
Final Verdict
The CYCROWN Dremax delivers exactly what it promises—a comfortable, capable commuter e-bike with enough versatility to handle mixed conditions. At $1,299, it’s fairly priced for what you get: a Samsung battery, hydraulic brakes, Shimano drivetrain, and dual-sensor smoothness.
If you’re a daily rider looking for comfort, safety, and reliability without breaking the bank, this is a strong contender in the crowded commuter e-bike space.
