Micromobiilty company Yadea unveiled a compact $350 e-bike at China Cycle 2024 – the world’s biggest bike fair, and a chance for manufacturers to show off their latest and best. 

The bike, called the UFO S, has a  tiny 250W motor and diminutive 14” tires, and it might make you think of Yadea as a small company. They’re actually the largest manufacturer of electric bikes and escooters worldwide. 

The UFO S may not make it stateside – since North American riders prefer beefier rides with more power. It’s safe to say Yadea knows what they’re doing, and with bikes like the Yadea COCOA and Trooper 01, they’re giving U.S. riders exactly what they want. 

This month, we’re highlighting the slightly more practical (if maybe a little less cool) Yadea COCOA, a cargo bike with modern-day styling and appointments.

The COCOA has a 500W motor for a max speed of 20 mph; 20 x 3” tires; and a 48V, 14.4 Ah battery for up to 60 miles of range in Eco mode, making it suitable for taking on a camping trip. 

The COCOA also has front and rear hydraulic disc brakes, a spring shock-absorbing saddle, handlebar-end turn signals, and a large, 5.5 display for clear visibility of your speed, mileage, and battery level. Calorie count and carbon expenditure during your ride are also tracked through a “proprietary algorithm.”   

Yadea’s cargo bike does not have a suspension, but this keeps weight down to a very manageable 41 pounds. Its fat tires soak up bumps and rough roads (and you can mount a wider set of tires if you want). The bike’s water resistance rating of IP65 makes it good for all-weather riding 

This month, take $200 off the COCOA for Mother’s Day, and pick one up for only $1,799. It comes in two colors, blue or white, with beautifully orange-accented built-in rear rack and front basket, a 7-speed Shimano drivetrain, and front and rear fenders.
